Location Information: Rural area (Cattle farm).
Work Location: Coronach, SK, cattle farm About employer: Our farm consist of a
3,000 head feedlot with 1000 commercial and pure bred mother cows, 300 bred
heifer development program, and 15,000 acres of crop land. We strive to be the
best in the business and are constantly making changes to get there. All of our
machinery and facilities are new, clean and very well maintained. Position overview: To supervise the
work of cattle farm workers and harvesting labourers, with the key objective
being to maximize the productivity and profitability of the property, without
compromising stock welfare, plant condition or human resources. Reports to: Owner
Transportation/Travel Information: Own
vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
Education: Completion of high school Experience Extensive farming experience (over 5 years) obtained as
a farm supervisor or livestock worker or by working on a farm. Languages: Speak English, Read English Weight Handling: Up to 20 kg (40 lbs).
Job Duties: Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general
farm workers and harvesting labourers; Supervise and oversee breeding and other
livestock-related programs; Supervise and oversee growing and other
crop-related operations; Develop work schedules and establish procedures;
Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed; Maintain quality
control and production records; May perform general farm duties including
tractor driving when needed.
Additional Skills: Thorough
knowledge of soils, crops, animal husbandry, and of farm building and equipment
care and maintenance; Thorough knowledge of farm equipment and materials and
ability to manage the use of materials and equipment efficiently and
economically; Basic knowledge of plant and animal diseases and insect pests and
of modern methods of their prevention, eradication, and cure; Ability to plan
and direct large scale diversified farm activities, to supervise large groups
of farm workers in farm activities and to direct skilled and unskilled
employees in varied farm operations; Ability to keep records of time,
production and costs, and to make reports and recommendations for improvement
in methods and equipment.
