Education: Completion of (some) high school Experience: We are looking for a journeyperson with completed
apprenticeship program OR
combination of over four years of work experience in the carpentry trade and
some high school, college or industry courses in carpentry.
Languages: Speak English, Read English Weight
Handling: Often over 20 kg (40 lbs).
Job Duties: Preparing the layout of the project; Selecting, collecting and
delivering materials; Working with blueprints or instructions from supervisors;
Working with materials such as wood, wood substitutes, steel, plastic,
fiberglass, or drywall; Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying
sub-flooring and installing walls and roofing systems; Constructing building
frameworks, including walls, wall studs, floors, floor joists and doorframes;
Inspecting and replacing damaged framework or other structures and fixtures;
Instructing and directing laborers and other construction trade helpers;
Working on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings; Ensuring
work complies with code and specifications; Building stairs, mantles; Creating
structures for pouring concrete; Erecting and tearing down scaffolding;
Supervise casual staff; Work with construction supervisor to accomplish daily
tasks.
