Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school
Experience: One year or more working as a Cabinetmaker.
Languages: Speak English, Read English Write English
Weight Handling: Up to 20 kg (40 lbs)
Job Duties: Manufacture, assemble and install kitchen cabinets; Set up and operates woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointer, mortiser, tenoner, molder, and shaper, to cut and shape parts from woodstock; Use various handtools to fabricate and repair wooden kitchen cabinets; Study blueprints or drawings of kitchen cabinets to be constructed or repaired, and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed; Mark outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing specifications; Sizing parts of cabinetry such as doors, gables, drawer parts; Match materials for color, grain, or texture; Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using handtools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files; Bore holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine; Glue, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps or clamping machine; Drive nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints; Sand and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing.
Additional Skills: Good knowledge of woodworking machinery; Good knowledge of cabinetry; Experience in manufacturing and assembly; Ability to take accurate measurements; A keen eye for detail and accuracy in all work with ability to produce good quality work; Ability to use own initiative; Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines; Flexible approach to working time to meet deadlines/peak workloads; Must be a team player; Manual handling knowledge (some lifting required).
